The popular and widely used Ortho Evra birth control patch
made by Ortho McNeil has been linked to serious and possibly
deadly side effects. In fact, there is evidence which can
prove that the Ortho Evra patch places female users at a much
higher risk for serious side effects than oral birth control
pills. In trials conducted to test the safety of Ortho Evra,
it was discovered that users of the patch were at a risk six
times higher for embolisms than users of oral contraceptives.
In a recent 17 month time frame, the Food and Drug Administration
has gotten more than 9,100 reports of "adverse reactions"
associated with the Ortho Evra patch, which is an especially
high amount compared to the approximate 1,200 reports linked
to Ortho Tri Cyclen in a six year time frame.
There have been reports of many side effects associated with
the use of the Ortho Evra birth control patch, with some of
the more common side effects being nausea, vomiting, spotting,
upper respiratory infections, weight gain or loss, and stomach

been young women in their late teens and women in their early

Although blood clots are a risk for users of various types
of birth control (because Estrogen causes blood to coagulate),
the FDA chose not to inform the public that the Ortho Evra
patch places women at a risk three times higher for non fatal
blood clots than those taking the pill. Blood clots are commonly
formed in the legs, but can pass throughout the body to other
locations, including the heart and lungs.
